Political Leanings
As a candidate in a nonpartisan School Board election, you are not officially associated with any specific political party. How would you describe your political leanings (socially, fiscally, etc.) and why do you define yourself in this way?
I describe myself as a Conservative socially, fiscally, and spiritually. I regularly seek ways to balance the idealogues from their criticism of our American Founders and our Christian Heritage. I repeatedly contact our United Staes Congressmen and State Legislators to express my conservative views on 1st, 2nd, 4th amendment issues as well as Colorado TABOR and moral issues. I routinely write ‘Letters to the Editor’ in our local Courier newspaper. I am habitually volunteering in my local church.
I believe God has called me to serve, not for political reasons, but with conviction, to protect and strengthen our schools. I’m here to raise the educational standard for our children and secure strong their roles as future leaders.
Your Experience and Vision
What experience (personal, professional, other) would you bring to your role as School Board Member that will benefit your district? What is your vision to help ensure the highest quality education for your district’s students?
I am a retired Army officer as well as a retired civilian principal engineer, and currently an entrepreneur in a local business. I bring experienced leadership and mentoring abilities. I have experience as a teacher of engineering. I am experienced with high level financing. I have the experience and ability to figure out how to do more with less. I bring experience with motivating people. Finally, I bring experience in all facets in communication, which is critical to any organization.
Improving Schools
What are the primary strengths and weaknesses of your district’s schools? What would you maintain or change?
Our primary strength is our teachers. They do not make as much money as their counterparts in El Paso County, and our teachers stay here in Teller County, because they love their students and our community. I will seek other ways to recognize them when we cannot financially compensate their merit and dedication. Another strength we have right now is our current conservative school board; I intend to carry-on their legacy and help to improve, such as a program for increasing training into the trades. The trades are as important as college prep, if not more important in my opinion.
Curriculum
What types of curricula, including library books and materials, if any, do you believe should be added or removed from your district’s schools? Why?
I am blessed with our current School Board’s selection of the ‘American Birthright’ standard. I will continue to support this direction, and I will even look for other curricula that supports this theme. I believe that the recent passage of Colorado’s SB25-063 is another attempt to stifle the authority of school boards over their own school libraries. I will use all my influence to keep graphic sexual material completely out of our school libraries, and I will enlist parents to help with screening materials for inappropriateness.
Financial Stewardship
Depending on the size of their district, School Board Members decide how to spend $10s of millions of dollars, or even $100s of millions, in taxpayer money each year. How would you seek to prioritize the funds being stewarded by your district’s School Board?
As an entrepreneur, and business owner, I am used to doing more with less. I also spent twenty years in the U.S. Army commanding two large organizations with operational missions, budgets, logistics, facility and fleet maintenance. In addition, I was employed another twenty years as a Principal Engineer with the Department of Defense focused on design and acquisition responsibilities that were always limited in budget.
The answer isn’t more taxes or bureaucracy; it’s smarter priorities. Teachers are our front line, and every other expense must support them. We have to protect classrooms first, trim waste, and stop letting lawsuits and politics drain money from kids. Our challenge is priorities, and I know how to prioritize. I can do this.
Technology
What do you believe is the proper balance of a student’s use of technology in education — such as cell phone use during school hours and incorporating artificial intelligence?
Cell phones are banned from classrooms in many school districts around the nation, and I support the idea of keeping them out of classrooms. Cell phones may prevent actual learning by the student with the temptation to have an AI Chat Bot do the work, let alone the distraction and lure of social media. Chatbots aren’t inherently good or bad; however, in interviews with the Associated Press and a new study, teenagers say “they are increasingly interacting with AI as if it were a companion, capable of providing advice and friendship”. I intend to make this unhealthy emotional attachment a priority. I will gather teachers, counselors, and parents to plan a way to help our young ones in this area.
Parental Role
What do you consider to be a parent’s role in a child’s education? Do you believe that any information about a student should ever be withheld from a parent?
I stand for parents as the primary educators, period. There is no reason that the parents should be denied any information pertinent to their child or their welfare. This will not be allowed on my watch. I include children’s vaccinations as part of parental choice.
Sex Ed
Why do you support or oppose comprehensive sexuality education, including LGBT health and relationship information, in public schools K to 12? What are your positions regarding age appropriateness, curriculum transparency, and opt-in or -out policies?
I oppose sexuality education, period. Sex education has been part of public education for at least the past fifty years. Sex education is not about sexuality.
Sex Education focuses mainly on the biological and physical aspects of sex: reproduction, anatomy, puberty, contraception, and prevention of sexually transmitted infections (STIs). These are often taught from a health or science perspective. In my opinion, sex education should be limited to abstinence-focused approaches.
Sexuality Education covers sex education topics but goes beyond them. It includes discussions of relationships, consensual sex, use of condoms, sexual orientation, gender identity, and affirming same-sex relationships.
I support only sex education as described above, and I believe in complete curriculum transparency with opt-in policies approved by parents.
Gender Issues
What are your views on gender issues in schools, including the use of preferred pronouns, discussing gender issues in the classroom, allowing students to use facilities and participate in sports activities not of their biological gender, and compliance with federal directives and law regarding gender issues?
House Bill 2025-1312, signed by the Governor mandates, among other things, that MisGendering and DeadNaming students is now a crime. In recent years, I have traveled to Denver several times to speak before legislative committees, and I promise to continue to fight these deranged Ideologues. Concerning the sexes, I completely support the Resolution from our current Board of Education, and I will continue to enforce this as a board member ensuring the full instructional environment respects the two sexes and rejects gender ideology. There are only two sexes, male and female. Students shall be secure in separate restrooms and locker rooms for males and females. Males shall not compete as females in sporting events.
School Safety
As a School Board member, what changes would you want to make, if any, to help ensure a safe and secure environment for both the students and staff of your district?
Currently, the State of Colorado provides funding for armed security only at high schools. Our Board is exploring options to extend armed security to all schools, including our most vulnerable elementary campuses. At present, all school entrances remain locked, with access routed through a single controlled entry point. Potential protection measures under I may consider include arming specially trained teachers or staff, as well as engaging vetted community volunteers, such as veteran first responders, as well as armed forces veterans, such as are found in the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) or the American Legion to serve as sheep dogs.
School Board Meetings
What do you consider to be the appropriate balance between the authority of School Boards and the rights of the public to present their views during School Board meetings?
I’m not in favor of lengthening public comment time, which is already sufficient, but I do believe in creating more opportunities for input outside those long meetings. When elected, I’ll build on my habit of public writing, like my monthly letters to the Pikes Peak Courier, by creating a public web portal where board members can post updates, explain decisions, and invite feedback. This platform will let residents who are just getting home from work, or who are too shy to speak in public, share their ideas when it’s convenient for them. Many people think of great ideas between meetings but have no place to record them. This portal ensures every voice can be heard.

Occupation/Vocation: Physical Therapist Assistant
Military Background (if any): Medically Retired
Resident of Pikes Peak Region & District: PP Region 12 years, WPSD 1 year and 8 months
Political Leanings
As a candidate in a nonpartisan School Board election, you are not officially associated with any specific political party. How would you describe your political leanings (socially, fiscally, etc.) and why do you define yourself in this way?
I am fiscally responsible and values driven. I believe that core values are critical and should be something each individual stands for. I believe that respect is earned and not immediately granted. Socially, I am family centric and believe that a traditional family unit is a cherished privilege. I hold our country’s and founding Father’s values dearly and would like to carry those forward.
Your Experience and Vision
What experience (personal, professional, other) would you bring to your role as School Board Member that will benefit your district? What is your vision to help ensure the highest quality education for your district’s students?
As a former Army Officer, I believe that I can bring a diplomatic and team based leadership approach to this district. My vision is to keep politics out of the classroom and to bring this district and community back together. There seems to be an “us vs. them” mentality that only hurts our children. By putting children first and focusing on preparedness after K-12 education, this will strengthen our children and our community
Improving Schools
What are the primary strengths and weaknesses of your district’s schools? What would you maintain or change?
The biggest weaknesses are the political divide, lack of accountability and lack of transparency in our district. The strengths of our district are parent choice, the quality of our students and families and community voice/involvement. I would keep the listed positives and change the negatives to bring the community together and have a transparent, diplomatic relationship between the community and the school board.
Curriculum
What are the primary strengths and weaknesses of your district’s schools? What would you maintain or change?
I think more classical American history literature should be added to allow our children to learn both the strength and weaknesses of our country. By doing so, they can carry the positive values forward and learn from the negative to not repeat the mistakes of those that preceded us. What needs to be removed is material that isn’t purely human anatomy and give the parents the right to opt-in/out for literature.
Financial Stewardship
Depending on the size of their district, School Board Members decide how to spend $10s of millions of dollars, or even $100s of millions, in taxpayer money each year. How would you seek to prioritize the funds being stewarded by your district’s School Board?
I would prioritize good facility maintenance and competitive salaries for teachers. If we want excellent education for our students, it is critical to have high quality educators.
Technology
What do you believe is the proper balance of a student’s use of technology in education — such as cell phone use during school hours and incorporating artificial intelligence?
I do not believe that cell phones need to be in the classroom as it is a distraction from learning. I think artificial intelligence is a good tool but should not be the primary focus. I want children to learn to think for themselves and to know how to critical think and reason when technology is not available.
Parental Role
What do you consider to be a parent’s role in a child’s education? Do you believe that any information about a student should ever be withheld from a parent?
I strongly believe that parents are the primary educator. I think our district should focus on empowering our parents and maximize involvement. The parents have the right to know everything that is happening with their child’s education and it is unethical to withhold information from them. The children are not property of the school or district.
Sex Ed
Why do you support or oppose comprehensive sexuality education, including LGBT health and relationship information, in public schools K to 12? What are your positions regarding age appropriateness, curriculum transparency, and opt-in or -out policies?
I strongly support opt-in/out policies and informing the parents of any curriculum regarding this. I think sexual education is the primary responsibility of the parents. I think it is appropriate for the district to teach a basic human anatomy course to high school students to educate them on making safe choices. If students have further questions regarding anything outside of basic human anatomy, those questions should be directed to the parents or the school counselor.
Gender Issues
Why do you support or oppose comprehensive sexuality education, including LGBT health and relationship information, in public schools K to 12? What are your positions regarding age appropriateness, curriculum transparency, and opt-in or -out policies?
Our district and federal government has adopted the use of only two genders and that needs to be respected. I believe in protecting gender specific facilities and women’s sports.
School Safety
As a School Board member, what changes would you want to make, if any, to help ensure a safe and secure environment for both the students and staff of your district?
I think the Safe to Tell resource fosters confidence in our district. Increased security should always be viewed as a priority and should be available. Having a great working relationship with local law enforcement will only strengthen the safety of our district.
School Board Meetings
What do you consider to be the appropriate balance between the authority of School Boards and the rights of the public to present their views during School Board meetings?
I think a standard amount of time for public opinion on board issues is appropriate. I greatly support community and parent involvement in board issues but dragging issues outside of an established window of time leads to a halt in efficiency and decreases public confidence in the board’s ability to make decisions.

Christian voting
Voting is a simple, yet significant way to do something about public policy in our country. As people of faith, we will be held accountable for our actions, as well as our lack of action. (Luke 12:48)
Biblical worldview
By diligently learning, applying, and trusting God’s truths in every area of our lives, we can begin to develop a deep comprehensive faith that will stand against the unrelenting tide of our culture’s non-biblical ideas.
Vote your values
The issues of the day change. Political parties and platforms change. God’s Word never changes. The vote of every Christian should be based on the principles of Scripture and not persuasive personalities.
Electing righteous leaders
Bad governance and our loss of freedom is the direct result of the church’s failure to disciple. When the citizenry do not seek to be obedient to God’s Law, they vote in wicked and corrupt candidates, who then trample underfoot the God-given liberties of the people.
