Colorado’s Sunshine Law and Taxpayer Bill of Rights (TABOR) are examples of accountability measures that Colorado’s electorate voted into law.  What are your views on ethics, transparency, and adherence to the Colorado and U.S. Constitutions?  Where do you see gaps in current governance, and how would you address them?

What strategies would you pursue to address crime in Colorado, including issues such as cybercrime, drug trafficking, and human trafficking; how would you coordinate efforts and balance enforcement with prevention, civil liberties, and community safety?

How would you support Colorado’s economy, including small businesses and key industries such as energy and agriculture, while balancing growth, environmental stewardship, and job creation?  What principles would guide your approach to the state budget and fiscal responsibility?

I have been working with President Trumps Small Business Administration. We have a strong plan to bring job creation back to Colorado. That is great going to be de-regulating throughout Colorado. Also eliminating Property Tax. Bringing energy back is necessary. We need to drill for oil. Build coal plants the democrats have destroyed and produce our own natural gas.

What will you do as Colorado Governor to protect our citizens’ First Amendment rights to the free exercise of religion, freedom of speech, peaceably assembly, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances?

As Governor, I will defend the constitutional freedoms guaranteed by the First Amendment for every Coloradan. That means protecting the free exercise of religion, safeguarding freedom of speech, respecting the right to peacefully assemble, and ensuring citizens can petition their government without fear of retaliation. I will oppose government overreach that infringes on these rights and work to ensure state agencies respect and uphold constitutional protections.

Do you believe that gun ownership is a civil right, and what is your position regarding restrictions on lawful gun owners such as laws making freedoms more difficult to exercise and making concealed carry permits more difficult to obtain?

Yes. I believe the right to keep and bear arms is a fundamental, God-given right protected by both the United States and the Colorado Constitutions. The government should not infringe upon the right of law-abiding citizens to own, carry, and use firearms for self-defense, hunting, sport, or the protection of their families. As Governor, I will oppose laws that restrict the rights of gun owners, including measures that make concealed carry permits more difficult to obtain or otherwise create unnecessary barriers to exercising a constitutional right. My focus will be on prosecuting criminals who commit violent crimes, not limiting the freedoms of citizens who obey the law.

How would you manage state agencies, select key appointees, and use executive authority—including executive orders and emergency powers—to ensure effective, accountable governance?  Under what limits, if any, should those powers operate, and which existing orders would you repeal or substantially change?

I already have an extensive list of executive orders to be instituted day one. I have been working across all agencies and appointed positions. I have many of those names penciled in. I will veto anything that is not constitutional, attacks TABOR the 2nd amendment or parents and children. I will work with the legislature as much as possible but I will not compromise my values and the constitution in order to appear bipartisan.

How would you support Colorado’s economy, including small businesses and key industries such as energy and agriculture, while balancing growth, environmental stewardship, and job creation?  What principles would guide your approach to the state budget and fiscal responsibility?

First and foremost, our budget must get back to the basics: fund our schools, administer criminal justice, care for the disabled, and deliver basic services to the public. Today’s budget is bloated with administrative growth and frivolous programs that do not help agencies accomplish their core missions. In order to pay for this ongoing mismanagement, Governor Polis called a special session last year to raise taxes on small businesses and people who work overtime. I was strongly opposed. I offered legislation to repeal the overtime tax, but after it passed its first committee the far-left Democrat majority killed it by refusing to bring it up for a vote.

What will you do as Colorado Governor to protect our citizens’ First Amendment rights to the free exercise of religion, freedom of speech, peaceably assembly, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances?

The first thing I will do as governor will be to overhaul the membership of Colorado’s 300 Boards and Commissions to better represent a diversity of viewpoints as required by law. The anti-Christian, anti-free speech Colorado Civil Rights Commission does not have a single Republican or conservative member, despite the clear intent of its founding laws. I’ll fix that. Not coincidentally, the one-sided Civil Rights Commission has repeatedly violated the constitutional rights of religious Coloradans, as determined by a bipartisan majority of the US Supreme Court. I passed the law to ban non-disclosure agreements. These agreements were meant to muzzle public employees
I will veto any bills hindering my ability to protect and defend the Constitution and uphold my oath.

Do you believe that gun ownership is a civil right, and what is your position regarding restrictions on lawful gun owners such as laws making freedoms more difficult to exercise and making concealed carry permits more difficult to obtain?

The Second Amendment is a fundamental Constitutional right that underlies and ensures all of our freedoms. It is a protection against government tyranny. As Governor, I will continue to oppose any efforts by the left to infringe on this right. I will also advocate a pro-Second Amendment counter-offensive by challenging the Democrats’ new (and not-so-new) anti-gun unconstitutional laws, I will advocate for concealed carry permit reciprocity in Colorado.

How would you manage state agencies, select key appointees, and use executive authority—including executive orders and emergency powers—to ensure effective, accountable governance?  Under what limits, if any, should those powers operate, and which existing orders would you repeal or substantially change?

State agencies shall do exactly what their name says. For example, the Department of Public Safety will be an active law enforcement agency that keeps the public safe. The Department of Transportation will maintain our roads and bridges with the care drivers deserve.

I will find expert, qualified leaders for each agency to carry out that mission. To cut the budget, I will order my Cabinet to cut between five and ten percent of their operating budgets, institute a hiring freeze, curtail out of state travel and require a thorough review of all cash funded programs to determine which ones can be eliminated.
I will not renew any orders that created ineffective programs and infused special interest agendas into agencies.
