Republican:  El Paso County, CO

HOUSE DISTRICT 15 CANDIDATES

SCOTT  BOTTOMS

Candidate Information

House District:       15

Email Address:       PastorScottForHD15@gmail.com

Occupation/Vocation:       Pastor

Military Background:       Navy

Resident of the El Paso County:       10 years

Experience

What experience (personal, professional, other) would you bring to your role as Representative that will benefit our state?

As a pastor and leader for over 30 years, I have worked in the darkness and evil that is humanity and have seen amazing things happen when people are presented with truth, grace and purpose. I have been in the fight against immorality like abortion and the LGBTQ+ agenda all my adult life. I will always stand for morality and truth. I have experienced countless stories of truth breaking barriers and changing entire lives and groups of people.

Vision

What is your vision for being a Colorado State Representative?

Bringing back our Judeo-Christian values and moral rule of law. My job will be to develop legislation that will fight for unborn children and the rights of all people everywhere. I want to bring integrity and character to the State legislature. I desire freedom for adults and children. We need to make laws to hinder the ever-increasing control the state has over the people. I want children to be free of the sexual attack on them in public schools. I will make laws that will protect our children from the LGBTQ+, transgender and CRT agendas. I want to stand for truth and to be light in a dark state legislature.

Election Reform

Do you believe that elections in Colorado should be conducted differently? Should voters in Colorado be required to verify their identity and residential status in the respective counties in which they vote? Are you in favor of a single-day, in-person voting system consisting of all-paper ballots? Why or why not?

Colorado has been the epicenter of election corruption for a long time. Dominion voting machines need to be eliminated whatever the cost and time involved. I believe in showing IDs to vote. I would favor a single-day, in-person voting system with paper ballots but I would also support a mechanized vote-counting system that is completely secure. Most importantly we need to have a system that is not connected to outside entities that can hack and change the outcome of elections. We need much more oversite and integrity in the overall voting system.

TABOR

What is your position on the Taxpayers Bill of Rights (TABOR)?

TABOR is necessary to keep the taxes in check. Citizens should decide tax increases, not the government or special interests. However, TABOR is not a reason why election corruption cannot be dealt with.

Education

As a State Representative, what will you do to improve the education of our K – 12 students? What is your position on parental authority in education, including school choice?

The children belong to the parents NOT the state nor the school district. Parents need to be allowed to have more input in the local school districts and the curriculum they are using. All transgender, LGBTQ+ and CRT curriculum needs to be removed from schools immediately. I will present legislation to remove these destructive agendas and prevent anything like them in the future. Parents should be allowed to send their children to any school they desire or to homeschool their children. Taxpayer dollars need to follow the child, not the system. The school the parents choose for their children should receive their tax dollars.

Government Authority

Do you believe that the government has the legal power and authority to dictate what a person does with his or her body? If so, how?

The government does not have the authority to tell someone to take a vaccine or any other drug they do not want to take. It is my body and it does not belong to the government. As a State Representative I will introduce legislation that will prohibit this gross unconstitutional overreach. This argument is used in favor of abortion. The problem with that argument is the mother and the child inside the womb of that mother are two different people. The mother has a right over her own body but that child is not her body, it is a different body of a different person.

1st Amendment

What will you do as Colorado State Representative to protect our 1st Amendment rights to: the free exercise of religion, freedom of speech, peaceably assembly, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances, all of which are becoming more difficult to exercise in America (and around the world)?

As a pastor I have fought many battles over the years against violations of freedom of religion and free speech. We kept our church open during the lockdowns. We never closed. I have had sermons removed from Youtube during the last few years. As a State Representative, I will fight with every tool I have to protect freedom of speech, assembly and religion. Without this basic constitutional freedom our country is not truly free.

2nd Amendment

Do you believe that gun ownership is a civil right, and what are your positions in regards to red flag laws, magazine capacity bans, legislation that regulates gun storage, and permitless “Constitutional carry”?

The 2nd Amendment should stand as the only explanation for gun ownership. Citizens of the entire USA have the constitutional right to own a firearm. They should not have to explain why they want to own that firearm. All of the magazine capacity bans and regulations are just manipulative ways to attack the 2nd amendment. It is no one’s business if someone has a gun and what they do with it unless they harm someone. I will protect personal freedom in all areas of life, including the constitutional right to own a firearm.

Infrastructure Spending

How do you believe that tax revenue in Colorado should be best utilized to improve our infrastructure?

My first stance on taxes is no new taxes and also I will try to eliminate as many taxes as possible. For initiatives that need revenue there and many places where that revenue could come from, i.e. Planned Parenthood. I would like to see more revenue for police officers in the form of raises and also additional training. Most officers I talk to feel undertrained which hinders the officer’s confidence and ability to make quick decisions that could save lives. The raises may not include the bureaucrats at the top of the police structure but should focus on helping police officers that may have families.

Occupation/Vocation:       Registered Nurse

Resident of the El Paso County:       Over 33 years

Experience

What experience (personal, professional, other) would you bring to your role as Representative that will benefit our state?

I am a PRO-LIFE, PRO-2nd AMENDMENT, PRO-AMERICAN, PRO-MILITARY and a Conservative Patriot Woman. I am the only candidate in the race who has experience working to write legislation and public policy. I have over 37 years of experience as a nurse specializing in trauma care, education, public policy, and program development. I am a wife, mother of 4 and grandmother of 5. I was appointed to the Board of Health and the Colorado Board of Nursing. I have been involved in politics for over 40 years. I was the only RN to work for one of the most conservative US Senators. I am the only candidate in this race who can hit the ground running on day one.

Vision

What is your vision for being a Colorado State Representative?

I will lead the party to eliminate government over-reach and mandates that the democrats force upon all of us esp. around healthcare. It is time that Republicans start to direct the healthcare train not respond to it. I will take the lead and work tirelessly to provide citizens with facts and allow them to determine what is best for themselves and their families. I will work to promote public safety, restore order for law enforcement and improve our economy by promoting energy production and jobs. Our children should not be forced to learn cultural hype, I will work to return our classrooms to learning reading, writing and arithmetic. We must address drug trafficking and illegal drug use.

Election Reform

Do you believe that elections in Colorado should be conducted differently? Should voters in Colorado be required to verify their identity and residential status in the respective counties in which they vote? Are you in favor of a single-day, in-person voting system consisting of all-paper ballots? Why or why not?

I believe that every citizen has the obligation to vote. I will fight to require Photo Voter ID laws. We currently vote on paper ballots in the State of Colorado. I support additional resources and regulations to improve our voter registration roles.  Election integrity is the responsibility of all citizens and when there is a question of process or legality in an election, everyone has an obligation to report the issue(s) to the proper authority.

TABOR

What is your position on the Taxpayers Bill of Rights (TABOR)?

I support TABOR. This legislation has been effective in limiting the size, scope and spending in our State

Education

As a State Representative, what will you do to improve the education of our K – 12 students? What is your position on parental authority in education, including school choice?

I support school choice. As a mother, I know what is best for my children. I exercised my choice for my daughters’ education. Parents have the obligation to make decisions that best address their child’s needs. The government should never demand or impose an educational mandate that is not first approved by a child’s parent(s). Our schools have been transformed into social experiments. It is time that we return control back to our local communities and parents. True transparency in education starts with involving parents.

Government Authority

Do you believe that the government has the legal power and authority to dictate what a person does with his or her body? If so, how?

NO The governments only role is to assure public safety. Government mandates are never the answer. Government entities can make suggestions but you are ultimately responsible for yourself and your family. You control your state of being not the government at any level.

1st Amendment

What will you do as Colorado State Representative to protect our 1st Amendment rights to: the free exercise of religion, freedom of speech, peaceably assembly, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances, all of which are becoming more difficult to exercise in America (and around the world)?

The five freedoms protected by the first amendment are: speech, religion, press, assembly, and the right to petition the government. Together, these five guaranteed freedoms make the people of the United States of America the freest in the world. I will use the constitution as my guide to vote for legislation that protects our rights or against legislation that undermines our rights.

2nd Amendment

Do you believe that gun ownership is a civil right, and what are your positions in regards to red flag laws, magazine capacity bans, legislation that regulates gun storage, and permitless “Constitutional carry”?

The second amendment guarantees Americans the right to keep and bear arms. I do believe, without question, in our 2nd amendment. I oppose any legislation that regulates, stipulates or mandates anything otherwise. I am a member of the NRA. All of my family has taken gun safety classes, conceal carry permit classes and are responsible gun owners.

Infrastructure Spending

How do you believe that tax revenue in Colorado should be best utilized to improve our infrastructure?

I believe that our democrat controlled state has been misguided when it comes to infrastructure. Tax dollars have been reallocated to other pet democrat projects and not spent on our infrastructure. CDOT(Colorado Dept of Transportation) is primarily funded by the state and federal gas tax. With the soaring cost of gas, we will need to look at other funding sources for infrastructure. Without a solid infrastructure, Colorado will have a difficult time recruiting high paying professional jobs to our state. I will work with my fellow elected officials to find ways of funding and returning the tax money to infrastructure projects that are much needed in Colorado.

Dr. GARFIELD   JOHNSON

Candidate Information

House District:       15

Campaign Website URL:       www.GarfieldJohnson.com

Email Address:       info@VoteGarfieldJohnson.com

Occupation/Vocation:       Government

Military Background:       Disabled Veteran

Resident of the El Paso County:       8 years

Experience

What experience (personal, professional, other) would you bring to your role as Representative that will benefit our state?

As an educator, a disabled veteran, I will fight for the voice of the people so that they may not have their rights violated. A former Olympic hopeful, licensed Colorado school teacher, entrepreneur, and a long-time area resident with strong leadership skills, I have lived multiple lives in this one life. My experiences have shaped who I am as a person and have shaped my views as a staunch conservative which is why my goals are to uphold the values that Colorado has been built on and protect the rights of children who will one day inherit this beautiful land. This I hope to achieve by working with my colleagues and constituents as a State Representative for House District 15.

Vision

What is your vision for being a Colorado State Representative?

I will continue the work of Dave Williams and to fight for our freedom and Republican values which includes election integrity, fighting for the unborn child, ending child gender modifications, and stopping our schools from indoctrinating and sexualizing our children.

Election Reform

Do you believe that elections in Colorado should be conducted differently? Should voters in Colorado be required to verify their identity and residential status in the respective counties in which they vote? Are you in favor of a single-day, in-person voting system consisting of all-paper ballots? Why or why not?

I observed that after the presidential election of 2020, the shocking wide spread allegations of voter fraud showed that the current voter system is tremendously problematic.  As a candidate for HD15, I am calling for election integrity in El Paso County and Colorado by cleaning up the voter rolls because the current Department of Motor Vehicles voter rolls are jam-packed with disqualified voters who are either dead, or no longer residing in our State. As such, voter ID is inherently necessary within our constitutional democracy.

TABOR

What is your position on the Taxpayers Bill of Rights (TABOR)?

The Taxpayer Bill of Rights sets out as its commitment to small business to ensure their interactions with the CRA are conducted with efficiency and effectiveness. I pledge that TABOR by its very design will protect voters by ensuring they have a voice to increase taxes they pay, and various debt that federal, state, and local governments incur.

Education

As a State Representative, what will you do to improve the education of our K – 12 students? What is your position on parental authority in education, including school choice?

I strongly support school choice and parental authority in education. After military service, I built my career in education. I have a Colorado Teaching license with certifications in Social Studies and Special Education. I taught in Colorado middle and high schools, including schools providing alternative education for at-risk youth. My most recent teaching experience includes working as a special education teacher and as an online teacher. In conjunction with my teaching activities, I also served as a coach and a tutor and has been active as an educational leader in many different settings. I relished a strong commitment to education and to ensuring that all students have the opportunity to learn and succeed.

Government Authority

Do you believe that the government has the legal power and authority to dictate what a person does with his or her body? If so, how?

I support medical freedom. The coronavirus pandemic has profoundly disturbed life around the world. Seclusion, contact boundaries and economic shutdown in Colorado and around the globe, imposed a complete change in daily psychosocial environments, but this pandemic brings with it an opportunity for personal growth and family cohesion. Under this penumbra, I strongly believe that leaders have exceeded their boundaries by manufacturing political decisions that reduced our personal freedoms.

1st Amendment

What will you do as Colorado State Representative to protect our 1st Amendment rights to: the free exercise of religion, freedom of speech, peaceably assembly, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances, all of which are becoming more difficult to exercise in America (and around the world)?

Former President Lincoln stated that an Armed society is a polite society. As a fiscal conservative, I support gun ownership, and first amendment rights. As such, I will fight to ensure that the right of the people to peacefully assembly and discuss their grievances with government officials at the state and local level are preserved.  I will also fight to ensure that the state government does not infringe on an individual right to worship.

2nd Amendment

Do you believe that gun ownership is a civil right, and what are your positions in regards to red flag laws, magazine capacity bans, legislation that regulates gun storage, and permitless “Constitutional carry”?

Former President Lincoln stated that an Armed society is a polite society. I support gun ownership, and will oppose any legislation that intrudes upon second amendment rights.

Infrastructure Spending

How do you believe that tax revenue in Colorado should be best utilized to improve our infrastructure?

I believe that one step to addressing the city’s capital infrastructure needs is to create a comprehensive growth plan that has both immediate and long-term goals. The city continues to grow. Infrastructure needs to be developed by preparing for growth while lessening current traffic concerns to allow for ease of access around the city. In addition, Colorado needs a 500-year water plan. With this stated, the city needs to plan for growth by planning for the expansion of water and other utilities to handle an increase in population in designated growth areas.

Christian voting

Voting is a simple, yet significant way to do something about public policy in our country. As people of faith, we will be held accountable for our actions, as well as our lack of action. (Luke 12:48)

Biblical worldview

By diligently learning, applying, and trusting God’s truths in every area of our lives, we can begin to develop a deep comprehensive faith that will stand against the unrelenting tide of our culture’s non-biblical ideas.

Vote your values

The issues of the day change. Political parties and platforms change. God’s Word never changes. The vote of every Christian should be based on the principles of Scripture and not persuasive personalities.

Electing righteous leaders

Bad governance and our loss of freedom is the direct result of the church’s failure to disciple. When the citizenry do not seek to be obedient to God’s Law, they vote in wicked and corrupt candidates, who then trample underfoot the God-given liberties of the people.
