Occupation/Vocation:       Military Retiree

Military Background:       Air Force Retired

Resident of the El Paso County:       7 years

Experience

What experience (personal, professional, other) would you bring to your role as Representative that will benefit our state?

The experience I think I would bring is 22+ years in the Air Force and retiring as a Senior Non-Commission Officer (E-8). Where I helped change and create new policies for wounded, ill, and injured service members. Also as a person who has lived in multiple locations around the United States, I have that unique insight on how different states’ laws and regulations have effected their population either in a good or bad way.

Vision

What is your vision for being a Colorado State Representative?

I want to understand how certain laws are created and why representatives vote on them, especially if those laws don’t represents the values of the majority of the state. My vision is to bring back Colorado to where it represents everyone and not just the Denver and Boulder areas.

Election Reform

Do you believe that elections in Colorado should be conducted differently? Should voters in Colorado be required to verify their identity and residential status in the respective counties in which they vote? Are you in favor of a single-day, in-person voting system consisting of all-paper ballots? Why or why not?

I do believe one should show an ID to verify who and their residential status. It always bugged me when I hear people say that it’s racist and that the poor don’t have the ability to get an ID. As a Latino man who grew up on the bad side of town and with not a lot of money, let’s just say that myself and all my friends when we turned 16 we all had IDs. I’m in favor with in-person voting with all paper ballots instead of the machine ones, but I am ok with early voting if it’s like 7 days. I’m not in favor of 2-3 weeks of early voting or accepting votes passed election night, unless those ballots were absentee ballots.

TABOR

What is your position on the Taxpayers Bill of Rights (TABOR)?

I support the Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights, because I think it keeps the bureaucrats from using leftover money for other projects that the taxpayers didn’t approve.

Education

As a State Representative, what will you do to improve the education of our K – 12 students? What is your position on parental authority in education, including school choice?

The way I think I can help is to try and keep bureaucrats out of the school system as much as I can and give greater say to parents on how and what their children are being taught in class. I also believe that if the school district is failing the child than that child should be able to choose to go to another school district that will help him/her succeed.

Government Authority

Do you believe that the government has the legal power and authority to dictate what a person does with his or her body? If so, how?

I believe that as individuals we have a better understanding when it comes to our own health and can do our own risk assessment better than a person who is sitting in a government office.

1st Amendment

What will you do as Colorado State Representative to protect our 1st Amendment rights to: the free exercise of religion, freedom of speech, peaceably assembly, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances, all of which are becoming more difficult to exercise in America (and around the world)?

As a CO State Representative I will be that first line of defense in protecting our 1st Amendment rights. I will vote against any bill that threatens or tries to hinder those rights. If there are already laws passed that do that in Colorado, I will fight to have them removed.

2nd Amendment

Do you believe that gun ownership is a civil right, and what are your positions in regards to red flag laws, magazine capacity bans, legislation that regulates gun storage, and permitless “Constitutional carry”?

I believe gun ownership is civil right, there’s why our founding fathers made it the 2nd amendment. The red flag laws are unconstitutional they infringe on the 2, 4, and 5 amendments. I’m opposed to magazine capacity bans… legislation on gun storage is a useless cause it cant be enforce and besides the government has no business in your home. It’s every law abiding citizen’s right if they want to carry a holster gun on their hip.

Infrastructure Spending

How do you believe that tax revenue in Colorado should be best utilized to improve our infrastructure?

I believe the tax revenue should be best utilized at least when it comes to the concerns of district 20 is forest mitigation/fire prevention, maintaining roads, and hopefully in the future a train line from the Colorado Springs area to Denver.

Occupation/Vocation:       Writer

Resident of the El Paso County:       6 years

Experience

What experience (personal, professional, other) would you bring to your role as Representative that will benefit our state?

I’m a staunch conservative who’s watched Denver politics ruin our state. I’m a Monument Trustee (equivalent of city council) who fights for conservative values at every turn. I am a small business owner with military family, and I have also served on my children’s Catholic school HS&A board for over 3 years. I serve on the board of Pikes Peak Firearms and a host of other Republican boards. I am constantly serving others and my community. I am ready to work for the people of HD20 every day. I’m a fighter, and I will fight for you!

Vision

What is your vision for being a Colorado State Representative?

I will champion legislation that makes Colorado great again, and I want to lead other legislators to start working for the people again. My vision is a Colorado where people can live freely and with limited government intrusion. I want to stay out of your home, and I will allow you to manage your family. I will make the American Dream a reality in Colorado for once. It’s time to take our state back from radical leftists, and I’m here for that fight.

Election Reform

Do you believe that elections in Colorado should be conducted differently? Should voters in Colorado be required to verify their identity and residential status in the respective counties in which they vote? Are you in favor of a single-day, in-person voting system consisting of all-paper ballots? Why or why not?

Elections should be reformed. People should have to vote in person with identification that verifies their residential status. We must have paper ballots so that interference is not rampant. It’s offensive that Democrats want to flood the polls with fake votes, and I will write bills that make it harder for the Dems to cheat. People need to feel that their vote counts. Without that basic right, our Republic will one day be Communist. It’s time to reform the elections NOW.

TABOR

What is your position on the Taxpayers Bill of Rights (TABOR)?

TABOR is one of the greatest aspects of being a Coloradoan, and it should exist in every state. Your money is your money, and you have a right to know how it’s spent. I support TABOR and will never allow it to be compromised.

Education

As a State Representative, what will you do to improve the education of our K – 12 students? What is your position on parental authority in education, including school choice?

As a mother, I know how important school is to our children. They have the right to learn and grow without fear of Democrat rhetoric like CRT, SEL, or LGBTQ grooming. School should be free from politics, and I’ll fight to strip public schools back down to learning. I’ll also champion legislation to destroy Teachers’ Unions, which do not help kids one bit. It’s time to start working for our kids and not the unions or politicians. Parents are the ultimate authority on their children’s education, including where they matriculate. Period.

Government Authority

Do you believe that the government has the legal power and authority to dictate what a person does with his or her body? If so, how?

The government has no authority over people’s bodies. The government needs to stay out of people’s homes and lives. Neither masks nor vaccines, or any other medical treatment, should ever be encouraged let alone forced by the government. The government didn’t give birth to you, and it has no right to pretend it knows best about your health. I will write legislation that supports your bodily rights, and I’ll oppose anything that allows the government into your bedroom or bathroom.

1st Amendment

What will you do as Colorado State Representative to protect our 1st Amendment rights to: the free exercise of religion, freedom of speech, peaceably assembly, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances, all of which are becoming more difficult to exercise in America (and around the world)?

We need to take feelings out of the equation. The government has no business restricting the First Amendment. College kids don’t need First Amendment “safe spaces.” They need to grow up and join the real world. I don’t care about Democrat feelings, and I will never vote for any legislation that champions feelings over facts. It’s time to get serious about Free Speech. I will forever protect your right to say what you need to say.

2nd Amendment

Do you believe that gun ownership is a civil right, and what are your positions in regards to red flag laws, magazine capacity bans, legislation that regulates gun storage, and permitless “Constitutional carry”?

Gun ownership is a right given by God, not the government. As a State Rep, my job is to protect that right, not trample on it. Red flag laws, magazine capacity bans, gun storage laws, and Constitutional carry restrictions are unconstitutional. You have my full support to exercise your rights without infringement, and I’ll always stand in your corner for doing so. I testified on several pro 2A bills. I’ll champion legislation to protect your rights and vote no on anything that infringes on your rights.

Infrastructure Spending

How do you believe that tax revenue in Colorado should be best utilized to improve our infrastructure?

Tax revenue belongs to the people, so we must spend it meaningfully on only critical infrastructure projects like roads and renewable water. Spending must be minimal. I want to stress, “infrastructure” means only critical projects, not frivolous wants by the democrats like social justice or “equity training.” Again, it’s time to get serious. Colorado can be great again if we spend only what we need and make it count.

Occupation/Vocation:       Instructor

Military Background:      Veteran USMC

Resident of the El Paso County:       6 years

Experience

What experience (personal, professional, other) would you bring to your role as Representative that will benefit our state?

I have served the Town of Monument for 6 years now, 4 of them as Mayor. I have seen how state legislation affects our smaller communities often with one size fits all solutions. As one of two individuals that challenged the state legislator for the first time in over 80 years with a citizen’s referendum against the National Popular Vote, I learned how out of touch some state legislators are and how their focus has moved from the local community to national hot topics. I serve on multiple legislative committees and have testified both for and against legislation on several occasions. With my experience at the local level, I believe I can help bring a Colorado focus to the state house again.

Vision

What is your vision for being a Colorado State Representative?

To create a bottom-up shared approach among elected officials at the state level by working from the taxpayer up, instead of the state level down.

Election Reform

Do you believe that elections in Colorado should be conducted differently? Should voters in Colorado be required to verify their identity and residential status in the respective counties in which they vote? Are you in favor of a single-day, in-person voting system consisting of all-paper ballots? Why or why not?

We must rebuild the peoples trust in the election system. This begins with transparency and then more transparency. This needs to be combined with voter roll clean-ups to reduce the number of inactive ballots circulating through the system. Moving forward, voter identification is crucial in election integrity.

TABOR

What is your position on the Taxpayers Bill of Rights (TABOR)?

The “fee” loophole is chipping away the effectiveness and value of TABOR. Future legislation needs to be developed in a manner addressing how new enterprises are created, along with new restrictions on the expansion of existing enterprises fees.

Education

As a State Representative, what will you do to improve the education of our K – 12 students? What is your position on parental authority in education, including school choice?

Providing effortless access to school choice with a focus on parental authority and transparency, will be a driving force in making public schools more productive and competitive. In many ways our public school system is broken. Funding is miss appropriated, classrooms are overcrowded, and grade level learning continues to fall behind. Teachers’ unions continue to perpetuate the problem by focusing on the teacher and not the student. It would behoove us to expand our teaching assets by tapping into industry experts to aid in education and help prepare our students for real world issues versus only relying on individuals with educational backgrounds.

Government Authority

Do you believe that the government has the legal power and authority to dictate what a person does with his or her body? If so, how?

As per our Constitution, government should be limited. Our state has demonstrated a total disregard for this concept during COVID-19, as such no level of government has the authority to dictate medical procedures and decisions over an individual.

1st Amendment

What will you do as Colorado State Representative to protect our 1st Amendment rights to: the free exercise of religion, freedom of speech, peaceably assembly, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances, all of which are becoming more difficult to exercise in America (and around the world)?

Recently in our community, I have had to defend our religious freedoms against out of state anti-Christian activist groups. We won this battle, but this is not the end. We need to continue to fight this kind of censorship and cancel culture.

2nd Amendment

Do you believe that gun ownership is a civil right, and what are your positions in regards to red flag laws, magazine capacity bans, legislation that regulates gun storage, and permitless “Constitutional carry”?

As a veteran of the United State Marine Corps and a NRA firearms instructor, I strongly support the 2nd Amendment. I have spoken out as Mayor, against legislation like Red Flag and others. The 2nd Amendment protects all other rights, and I will always fight to ensure our right to bear arms is upheld.

Infrastructure Spending

How do you believe that tax revenue in Colorado should be best utilized to improve our infrastructure?

The State agencies responsible for our infrastructure need to be refocused. Many of these agencies have lost touch with their designed purpose and spend too many taxpayer dollars outside their purview and on pet projects. New legislation needs to guide these agencies back to their core responsibilities.

Email Address:        Ken@WittForColorado.com

Occupation/Vocation:        Executive Director, Education reEnvisioned BOCES

Resident of the El Paso County:        4 years

Experience

What experience (personal, professional, other) would you bring to your role as Representative that will benefit our state?

As a former elected board president of one of the largest school districts in Colorado, I championed great education choices for parents, while working to ensure they were given control over their children’s education. As a former information security and governance executive in two of Colorado’s largest corporations, I understand how to develop sound policy. As a former VP, engineering in a public company and as high-tech entrepreneur, I find solutions where others get gridlock. As an alumnus of two conservative policy programs in the nation, I understand the importance of small government that respects individual rights and governs as locally as possible rather than from afar. And as a christian, I respect all lives.

Vision

What is your vision for being a Colorado State Representative?

I believe El Paso County residents value integrity, honesty, transparency and are fiercely independent. My vision for a Colorado State Representative is that my role is to ensure people are heard, that their genuine priorities are respected, that their rights are preserved, that government burden on their pocket-books and livelihoods is reduced and that their privacy is respected. I desire to leave to my children and grandchildren a Colorado that preserves it great beauty, respects their rights and in which they can afford to live.

Election Reform

Do you believe that elections in Colorado should be conducted differently? Should voters in Colorado be required to verify their identity and residential status in the respective counties in which they vote? Are you in favor of a single-day, in-person voting system consisting of all-paper ballots? Why or why not?

Government insists that I provide verifiable identification for just about everything except voting. Every legal vote must count, once. To properly confirm identity, citizenship and residence, which are the legal requirements for voting, more time is needed than is available in same-day registration. I would prefer paper ballots, but secure, non-internet machines can be secured. Single day, in- person voting except for the military stationed abroad is the only system that limits fraud acceptably.

TABOR

What is your position on the Taxpayers Bill of Rights (TABOR)?

The Taxpayers Bill of Rights is the most effective control on run-away legislative spending I have seen. I will defend TABOR and work to close the fees loopholes that have been exploited to work around it.

Education

As a State Representative, what will you do to improve the education of our K – 12 students? What is your position on parental authority in education, including school choice?

I have spent the last decade working to improve Colorado K12 public education by expanding school choice, equalizing the per-student funding for all public education choices, by eliminating union contract terms that prevent accountability for student outcomes, and by ensuring that those families that choose to educate their children outside of public education can do so unhindered, and with support. I have over the past few years created one of the state’s most innovative new models for school choice. Parents must be empowered decision-makers for their children’s health and education.

Government Authority

Do you believe that the government has the legal power and authority to dictate what a person does with his or her body? If so, how?

Every person has the right to life. There is no magic day in a person’s development when the right to self-preservation is earned or granted. Except in the case of mental incapacity with risk of self-harm, every person has the right to make choices concerning their own body, but no one has the right to make choices to harm the body or life of another.

1st Amendment

What will you do as Colorado State Representative to protect our 1st Amendment rights to: the free exercise of religion, freedom of speech, peaceably assembly, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances, all of which are becoming more difficult to exercise in America (and around the world)?

All of the first amendment rights are crucial for our republic to stand. I will work to ensure no public education policies in our colleges, K12 schools, or elsewhere are allowed to exist in violation of 1st amendment rights. And government has no authority to forbid the free exercise of religion. Health concerns do not suspend the first amendment.

2nd Amendment

Do you believe that gun ownership is a civil right, and what are your positions in regards to red flag laws, magazine capacity bans, legislation that regulates gun storage, and permitless “Constitutional carry”?

Colorado should honor constitutional carry. The second amendment is clear, citizens may keep and bear arms. It does not reserve these two rights to only circumstances where government chooses to allow them.

Infrastructure Spending

How do you believe that tax revenue in Colorado should be best utilized to improve our infrastructure?

Roads and bridges should be a top priority. However, I firmly believe that all taxpayers should have an equal expectation of access. Tolls and other limitations on access turn public infrastructure into a class system. A two lane highway upgraded to three lanes, where the third lane is only available to those who can afford to pay extra for it, was no benefit to the majority of taxpayers. Another high priority should be communications. Access to information via the internet is as important as physical access via roads. Just as government does not buy cars but ensures equal access for all to roads, government must ensure equal access to communications infrastructure, but not buy personal and business computing equipment.

Christian voting

Voting is a simple, yet significant way to do something about public policy in our country. As people of faith, we will be held accountable for our actions, as well as our lack of action. (Luke 12:48)

Biblical worldview

By diligently learning, applying, and trusting God’s truths in every area of our lives, we can begin to develop a deep comprehensive faith that will stand against the unrelenting tide of our culture’s non-biblical ideas.

Vote your values

The issues of the day change. Political parties and platforms change. God’s Word never changes. The vote of every Christian should be based on the principles of Scripture and not persuasive personalities.

Electing righteous leaders

Bad governance and our loss of freedom is the direct result of the church’s failure to disciple. When the citizenry do not seek to be obedient to God’s Law, they vote in wicked and corrupt candidates, who then trample underfoot the God-given liberties of the people.
